When I pinched that first pot, I never would have guessed what was in store. I quickly fell in love with the creative process, taking a lump of clay and watching it become something beautiful, at least in my eyes. There was just something about how the clay felt in my hands. Very quickly, I was encouraged to take my work to a pottery show. Much to my surprise, other people saw beauty in it as well. But its just clay, right? Over these few short years, I've experimented with a variety of techniques, finding that I enjoy traveling my own path. Again, it continually surprises me that others like it too. Today, I entered the Burke Arts Council and saw my work, MY WORK, not only being displayed, but FEATURED! Its just a little unbelievable. Maybe it is beautiful. Maybe I really am an artist. I wonder if this is a little bit like what God feels as he sees us, his creation, on full display, walking by faith. |
